Introducing “Cinema in Giardino a Verucchio – Summer 2026”, a new summer film festival born out of a collaboration between the Rilego e Rileggo association and Soggettiva Gallery. The event will feature films inspired by books, true stories and great historical figures, focusing on the relationship between the individual and history. The screenings will take place in the picturesque, private garden of the Fabbri family – a hidden gem at the foot of the Rocca, which will be opened to the community on this special occasion to offer an intimate, shared cultural experience.
Thursday 6 August: ME AND SISSI
A free-spirited, ironic and surprisingly contemporary reinterpretation of the figure of Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Through her relationship with Countess Irma, a portrait emerges of a modern, rebellious and non-conformist woman, struggling against the expectations imposed by her role.
Presented at the Berlin Film Festival, the film tackles themes that remain highly topical today, such as women’s emancipation, self-determination and the construction of the public image of women in power.
Thursday 13 August – THE APPRENTICE – THE EARLY YEARS OF TRUMP
Presented in competition at the Cannes Film Festival, this film recounts the rise of the young Donald Trump in 1970s and 1980s New York and his relationship with Roy Cohn, a key figure in shaping the future entrepreneur and politician.
More than just a biopic, the film helps us understand the origins of many of the communication strategies, leadership styles and power dynamics that still characterise one of the most influential and controversial figures on the international stage today.
Thursday 20 August – JURYMAN NO. 2
Regarded by many as Clint Eastwood’s possible final film and already described by numerous observers as his cinematic testament, Juryman No. 2 tells the story of a man called upon to judge a case that may affect him far more closely than he realises.
A rigorous and unadorned moral thriller that reflects on the concepts of truth, justice and individual responsibility, confirming the American master’s extraordinary ability to speak to a wide audience without compromising on complexity.
Thursday 27 August – I AM STILL HERE
Based on a true story, it tells the tale of a family swept up in the Brazilian military dictatorship of the 1970s and their long battle for truth and remembrance.
Winner of the Oscar for Best International Feature Film, Walter Salles’s film has been hailed as one of the most important and moving works of recent years, capable of transforming a family tragedy into a universal reflection on civil rights and historical memory.
